Are you part of a book club? What a treat. Read good (and not so good) books and then talk about them, whilst sharing friendship, food, and a little time out. And all of this is guilt-free activity because, as the advertisement used to say, “Reading is FUNdamental.”
Tomorrow night, I’ll have the opportunity to visit with the Football Supporters Book Club. This group of women have been meeting since their sons were in high school football together. They are bright, active, and engaging women with a lot of interesting thoughts to share. As their guest tomorrow, I hope to bring up the topic of Repurposing Your Old Books.
I’ve done this topic before and had super results. Hopefully, the FSBC will enjoy it too.
How do you repurpose your books?
I sat with one of my sisters yesterday and between conversations of her son’s upcoming wedding, my upcoming cruise plans, and general chat about family and friends, we came up with a wonderful and sometimes wacky list of things you can do with old books. Here are just a few:
- Donate to your local library–whether it’s a public or school facility
- Donate to service men and women
- Prop up a table leg
- Create a single subject home library
- Use in decoupage projects
- Create a sound effect for your next podcast
- Start your own Little Free Library
- Make gift card wraps
- Use as a teether for babies
- Have a never-ending supply for origami projects
Tomorrow I hope to do two arts & crafts projects with my book club friends. My sister said she wished she could be there. I mentioned that I’d love to Skype in to any meeting of her book club, and she seemed excited about that. “All you have to do is let me know the date and time, and I’ll be there–puns and all.” She groaned. Maybe she won’t be able to figure out Skype after all.
How about you? Are you part of a book club? Would you like me to visit via Skype? Please let me know.
For now, I’m off to prep a page of ways to re-use and re-pupose old books.
Hope you enjoy a creative week.
Prop up a table leg, haha, that one made me laugh!
I donate my old books to our local free library.
Hi Letizia,
With as much reading as you do, your local free library is lucky to have you around! Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful autumn season.
