  1. Hi, Liesa. I’ve been on Goodreads for a year and have enjoyed it very much. I’ve “discovered” several terrific books and authors thanks to the site while it helped me introduce my book to a large group of readers very quickly through a giveaway and advertising has allowed me to continue to raise awareness of the book. Goodreads has been a comfortable social media place for me; it’s never been a chore that had to be checked off a list. No Dummies book needed!

    • Very cool, Jeanne. Thanks. I have to admit that while I’ve been on Goodreads for a while, I haven’t made the most of the opportunity. Had a hard time figuring out how to edit a read status (I am definitely not the shooting star of this site), but now that I’ve begun to understand that process better, there’s no stopping me. On to Goodreads groups!
And thanks for the note about your experience with the giveaway. I’m glad to hear it works.
      Have a great week.

  2. Hi Liesa – My lesson was don’t start generating interest before the book is available. If readers become interested in your book, they want to buy or check it out from the library immediately. For book two in my series, I’m going to wait a little closer to my release date to start promotion and giveaways.

    • Thanks for the advice, Catherine! I think I’m going to focus on becoming involved with the groups before doing the give-away. This should give me a few months experience as an active user before trying for the giveaways. Good luck on book two.
